Want to ride an e-bike? No batteries needed! • FRANCE 24 English
@ascentale @idlestate @bikenite I haven't heard of it, but apparently there are adult-sized training wheels. https://zizebikes.com/product/adult-bike-training-wheels/
I'd be more likely to use a recumbent trike or quad if I lived someplace it was a risk. And studded tires.
Mechanical parts break down eventually. @pete asks:
Q8. I think I jinxed things the other week with my 'do you repair?' question and somehow snapped a rear axle last weekend: What's the most recent component that you broke or wore out, and have you managed to get it fixed?
Next, a question from @Pepijn asks, via @sam
Q7. I would love a good quality portable bicycle pump I can bring along. Preferably something that goes up to six-ish bar.
Weight and size isn't the greatest issue but, within reason, something I can throw into the green box would be nice.
What are you suggestions?

A1. I think just how fun the quadricycle is to ride when it's working. I've had a lot of problems with it, but when it's working the ride is very smooth, it handles well, and it's just damned fun to ride in that case. #BikeNite #Cycling #Recumbent #DavisCA
@daihard asks:
Q6. What type of rear light will work with a rack like this? I've tried a light with a flex rubber mount that went around the horizontal bar on the end, but the light kept moving downwards because of its weight. I want something that stays in place. Any help would be appreciated!
A neat question from @idlestate
Q5. Does anyone know of a use of "training-wheel" type outriggers fitted to adult bicycles as a guard against the worst from an ice-related wipeout?
@szpon asks:
Q4. What is your favourite lightweight and ultralight gear?
An introspective question from @nick
Q3. What annoying thing do YOU do on rides? (yes YOU not others)
I ask this because I've caught myself coasting when im tired, peddle peddle coast peddle. It annoys me and i know its annoying if you're behind someone that does this.

Up next from @mossyfoot:
Q2. I've seen cool LED light wands you install on a spoke on each wheel that can be programmed to display different images and simple animations when in motion. Does anyone know of someone that makes one that would work with 20 inch wheels?

We'll start out with our introduction:
Q1. Where are you posting from today? There's a lot of bad stuff going on these days. But what's something that made you smile during a recent ride?
I can see Westerkerk from my street at home from just the right angle, and I can hear the bells ringing when the wind is still or blowing the right way, and I never get tired of it. Best church in Amsterdam. #church #kerk #amsterdam #fietsen #cycling #BikeTooter
How did Paris become such a great city for bikes?
• One important factor: a pro-bike mayor
• Another one: bike advocacy groups

If you need a little good news, #cycling appears to be steadily growing in the US.

I think that's my first ice cream ride of the year. A scoop each of Apple Crumble and Rum and Raisin. There was perhaps some kind of strudel thinking going on with that combo. #cycling
2 economists heading to a meeting at Europe's largest asset manager and the world's largest insurer...by bike, of course — fastest way to get across town from ifo econ think tank to Allianz HQ.
Hard to imagine the American mind comprehending this one.
A couple days ago I posted a joke here about having seen Roadrunners and Coyotes while #cycling when I was riding through Acme Iowa. I found the picture of the Roadrunner, from April 2023 when I was riding the Kern River Parkway Trail outside of Bakersfield California.
Meep meep.
