For those who have asked... here is the outline of the E-bike licensing bill that is being proposed by the more than 30 New York City Council members (including a few surprising names) I can think of literally 1000 ways this goes very wrong w/o providing any safety benefits at all... none.

@shabazzstuart.bsky.social Not that I think they've thought this through in any way, but I'm curious how they think plates should be mounted to a bike. To the rack? Plenty of bikes don't have racks. To the rear fender? Plenty of bikes don't have fenders. To the saddle? Okay, but it will be blocked by half of delivery riders with stuff on their rear racks..

They have not thought this through at all. This was a question that many advocates raised last year. It generally shows how little thought they've applied. Notably, neither the NYPD or NYCDOT are backing this bill. The PD would continue to just use regular licenses/state IDs.
