So one wrinkle in my blog migration project is that I forgot that I have almost 1000 email subscribers. Does anybody have a recommendation for where to move them? MailChimp? Anything else, maybe something where I can pay per email rather than per month?

Related to that, has anybody used Amazon's Simple Email Service? I might roll my own here, not sure I want to pay $25/month for MailChimp or a similar service…

I mean it's email, how hard can it be? 😁 😬

@eagereyes I worked on email systems for 4+ years. _Sending_ lots of mail is easy. Getting it _delivered_ to recipients’ inboxes, not their spam folders, is very hard, and requires active maintenance of relationships with major email service providers.

@JasonW Yeah I'm sure there will be some that won't make it… I haven't really looked into how to set up the domain, etc., at all to see what can be done there to make it look trustworthy.

@eagereyes I’m biased because my old team built SES and I currently work for AWS, but I’d recommend giving Simple Email Service a try.

@JasonW That's the one I was already looking into briefly this morning :) By rolling my own, I meant the whole subscribe/unsubscribe thing, and a script to send through SES.
