I was curious yesterday evening about the incoming covered bike racks for Kimball ES on Beacon Hill that are being installed as part of the school construction project. It’s looking good, and I’m glad that the design departure request to not have covered bike parking was denied back in 2020.

@bobco85 @seabikeblog this is great to see! Having covered bike parking is really important to support riding year round. It’s not just practicality important but also a signal that the district cares
@bobco85 @seabikeblog I went to Lake #Burien Elementary in the middle 50's (the school doesn't exist anymore) and we had covered bike racks. Why did they disappear from schools that were built later in #Seattle?
@dlupham @seabikeblog that’s a good question; it appears to be a city requirement for school construction, but I don’t have any knowledge about the history of that or when it was added
