I keep reading about how blue states are losing population due to high cost of living - but every time we crunch the numbers the only thing that makes #Baltimore more expensive for us than #Florida is the post-pandemic mortgage + to a much lesser degree, state taxes

Musical Interlude: Here's a local (to me) band that does some really fun stuff. They're very much a retro "hot jazz" group, and I find their music infectious. BTW, "Mobtown" is a nickname for Baltimore, thanks to some severe 19th century riots.

Just bought a house in #Baltimore - leaving Florida and higher education here after 14 years.
Friendly people, way more affordable housing, reasonable taxes, excellent teacher pay, and good fucking energy. I'm excited to know my neighbors and build community and pay taxes towards shit I care about at a time of turmoil for the whole region.
